History Centre
At the foot of the hill of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette in Souchez, a building in black concrete and glass designed by the architect Pierre-Louis Faloci is home tot he History Centre. Photography, augmented by a collection of artefacts and a comprehensive commentary, offers an understanding of that first global conflict.
National Cemetery
At the largest French national cemetery, the basilica and the lantern tower protect more than 42.000 French soldiers who died during the Great War on the front in Artois and in French and Belgian Flanders. There, Guards of Honour welcome the public and maintain the memory oft he soldiers who fought for France.
Ring of Remembrance
An international memorial in a unique architectural style, the Ring of Remembrance designed by the architect Philippe Prost bears the names of almost 580.000 soldiers who fell on the ground of Nord-Pas-de-Calais between 1914 and 1918. They are united in posthumous brotherhood without distinction of nationality, rank or religion.
